Generations of Peace Hosts Canadian Representative to Learn About Palestinian Women’s Experiences
Generations of Peace welcomed the Representative of Canada, Mr. Graham Dattels, to its office in Beit Jala for a visit aimed at learning about the organization’s work and programs, and gaining first-hand insight into the experiences of Palestinian women participating in the women-focused project supported by the Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI). The visit included a dialogue session bringing together Mr. Dattels, the organization’s staff, and a group of Palestinian women participating in the project. During the session, he listened to their experiences and perspectives, learned about their key needs and the challenges they face, and explored the role of the project’s activities in supporting women’s participation, strengthening their capacities, and empowering them at both the personal and community levels. The visit also provided an opportunity to exchange perspectives on the importance of initiatives that place women at the heart of community development efforts, providing them with spaces to express their needs and priorities and to participate actively in bringing about change within their communities. Generations of Peace appreciates Canada’s support through the Government of Canada through their Fund for Local Initiatives and the Canadian Representative’s interest in listening directly to Palestinian women and learning about their experiences. This reflects the importance of partnerships that support local initiatives contributing to strengthening women’s roles and expanding opportunities for their participation in community life. Generations of Peace works towards a more participatory and inclusive society, where women’s voices and experiences are an essential part of the journey towards change.
